BIG Dress

So about a month or so ago I went yard sale shopping with my rad SIL Stacie.  We found this one yard sale that said they had plus sizes.  I found some AWESOME stuff there and they were selling everything for so cheap.  I got these two dresses that were size 24 which is way too big for me.  They only wanted one dollar for each dress.  I figured I could take them in or worse case scenario I could cut off the top and make them skirts.  Well, I got them home and put one on over my clothes and quickly realized that taking them in was gonna be a challenge.  The boobs were HUGE and so were the arms.  I started taking the waste in and my SIL said, "You could maybe just do a belt"  Well, I had been wanting to make a belt so I was excited.  Here is the dress with no changes.

SO I bought a shirt with an elastic belt that was on sale for 5 dollars!  It was kind of ugly though.  It had huge silver snaps on it and I didn't like it.  I took the scissors to it and cut the buttons off.  Then I sewed the elastic together to make a circle and threw it on over my dress.  Not only did it work but it was cute ANDDDDDDD  it made me look way skinny because it was showing off the smallest part of my body.  Check it out

It has also made a lot of my shirts that were HUGE on me look cute. I don't have many that fit good right now since losing some weight, but now a lot of them are cute on me again! YEAH! So go out and buy some elastic and make a belt. Or do like me and find a cute shirt with an elastic belt and alter it. I bet I spent less on the shirt WITH the belt then I would have if I would have gone to JoAnns and bought elastic and did it. :) The shirt I bought ain't bad either...maybe I will show you that some day too.

I decided to join some parties....it's been a while and I am off for Utah and won't be able to post for a couple of days so I better get them in now while I can! :)

Kids Crafts

My boy LOVES making things. However, his definition of make things is WATCHING mommy make stuff for him.  The other day he was DYING to make something from Nick Jr.  They have TONS of free printable and crafts and he will spend an hour just looking through all of it on the Internet.  I told him sure and then after he had been looking for a while I remembered we were out of ink on our printer.  Most of the crafts require you to print something and he was not happy.  His bottom lip started to stick out and the tears started to form in his eyes and it was about 30 minutes to nap time ( which really isn't enough time to craft! )  So I told him maybe we could find a Halloween craft on the Internet that didn't require us to print something.  We found something right about nap time so I promised him while he was sleeping I would make it for him.  He loved it.  What you do is cut out the shape of a pumpkin on construction paper.  Then you get black construction paper and cut out different face parts; nose, mouth, eyes, eye brows...anything you can think of.  I made 3 different mouths, a couple sets of eyes and 3 or 4 noses.  Then I took cheap magnets I had bought from the dollar section at Walmart and cut them up and hot glued them to the facial parts.  Then you can either put this on the refrigerator.  We have a small magnet board so I put it on there.  Then they can have fun changes the pumpkins face as much as they want.

Anyone else having trouble with blogger turning pictures side ways that aren't supposed to be sideways? This is the 3rd or 4th time this week it has done that to me and I can NOT figure out how to fix it. I even deleted the picture and reloaded it. The picture isn't cropped at all either. Boooooooo

Any ways. Both of my kids enjoyed this craft and have been having fun changing the faces of the pumpkin.

Cakes MMMMMMMM

This weeks photo Theme on Trendy Treehouse was CAKES.  I was really into decorating for a while but never did much with it.  It was making me fat!  haha  i wanted to post pictures of the cakes I made Cody, which is funny because he doesn't really like cake or frosting.  I was worried someone would get upset and think they were not family appropriate so I decided not to link up to it but I still wanted to share them here with y'all especially since I have not been posting much lately.  So check these out and have a laugh.

He had been in Kuwait for three months and had just come home!  Another time he was gone I made him a cake that said, "Welcome home...Now get NAKED!"  I can't find the picture or I would post it.  Enjoy

Nubbies Bye Bye

Here are some pictures from just before Kayla's surgery

Last look at the nubbies :)  ( the surgeon marked them blue so he knew what to remove.....probably not necessary!  haha )

I had just put the gown on her and she stepped right out of it!  It was HUGE and it was the smallest they had.

This was the only good one I could get with the gown on.  She was a trooper.  One of the nurses made her a balloon out of a rubber glove.  Tyler and Kayla thought that was the best thing ever!  I wish I would have taken a picture of the "bandage" they put on er hands after they sewed her up.  It was TINY!  It was kind of like on the movie Adventure's in Babysitting when the kid gets the knife in his foot and they only give him one stitch and he is worried they are gonna think he is a wuss!  haha  She had 3 or 4 stitches on the bigger one and just 2 on the small one.  We were about 15 minutes from home and she ripped the little band aide off and was pulling on her stitches.  BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO   So from now on we have wrapped her whole hand in adhesive tape.  She looks like a boxer!  She is doing good though.
h
Now my niece is sick!  She was having trouble breathing so they took her to the ER and they sent her to the childrens hospital! She has been hooked up to a machine so she can breath.  They don't really know EXACTLY what is wrong but thinks she is having some kind of asthma attack.  First they have even heard of her possibly having asthma.  If you know my brother Scott and his kids, please keep Miss Bradlie in your prayers.  Thank you.

I FINALLY have a sewing project to add!  WOO HOO  I am going to wait a day or two ( If I can stand it ) to post pictures because it is being mailed out tomorrow.  I FINALLY finished the purse for Crystal who was my giveaway winner!  YEAH!  I really didn't intend on it taking soooooooooooo long to get it done but I had issues with it.  I am happy with the way it turned out but also annoyed at my sewing machine.  I am starting to have some slight issues with it and it is now showing in projects like this.  Hopefully the recipient will like it and that will be what is most important.

Okay now I must go to bed.  It is almost midnight and my husband has already been in bed for an hour and a half.  HAHA  Poor guy.  The sad thing is, I didn't even get what I needed to get done tonight.  I figured the rest I would do in the morning.  I needed to print out a picture and the first one came out grainy.  No big deal.  i just printed out the bigger size format only to find out we are out of blue and magenta ink so it was all discolored.  No problem.  Cody went to Walmart to buy me ink and some mailing envelopes and they only had magenta, no blue.  CRAP.  Maybe it will print okay without the blue after we get the pink in.....no such luck.  FINE, I will use my other printer but then realized that it was unplugged and out of it's normal spot in the room due too some remodeling going on in my house.  It also has plastic over it and is in a weird spot to get to in the rooml...double crap.  I'm going to bed and gonna print it tomorrow.  It HAS to get done then because it needs to be mailed tomorrow for a photo contest cut off date of FRIDAY!  YIKES.....

All Is Well

All is well at my house.  My daughter did great!  I will post pictures later.  For now we are off to story time at the library.  My kids love story time at the library.  Last week before it started Tyler actually read a book to the librarian who does story time.  Her name is Cheryl and Tyler loves her.

I hope everyone has a happy Wednesday.  I have LOTS of cleaning to do since we are having people over for dinner tomorrow night.  Don't you hate when you have tons of cleaning and it gets in the way of your crafting time?!?!  Man I HATE that.  I have a little over a week left until we go to Utah and LOTS of crafts I wanted to do.  Some will probably have to wait until I get there.  Good thing my mom owns a sewing machine because I plan on using it.  :)   I am also doing another maternity shoot on Friday for my friends Lisa and Jason.  Can't wait.  I am really enjoying having photography jobs to do lately.  It has been so much fun.  I got hit up for another one last night at church.  It may not happen until December when I get back, but I am looking forward to it as well.  It is for a friend who wants to get really good pictures of her grand kids as a Christmas present for their parents.  How fun is that.  They are the CUTEST little blond girls with big blue eyes.  It should make for great pictures.  :)

I will TRY and get on here later to post some cute pictures of my girl in her hospital gown.  She took it off 2 or 3 times but we finally got her to keep it on.  heehee

TOMORROW

Why am I still up?  I have to get up at at LEAST 5:30am ( which is early for ME! ) and I also need to get my children up, dressed and in the car ready to drive off by 6:15 at the latest.  My husband is NOT going to work tomorrow, thank goodness.

My sweet little baby girl tried really hard to grow 6 fingers on each hand.  One looks like a wart, the other you can tell upon close inspection that it was indeed a finger and you can even see teeny tiny finer prints on it.  We are having them removed tomorrow.  Why now someone asked me?  Well, the doctor told us to wait until she was at least a year old.  that came and went and got pushed back for one reason or another.  Right before her 18 month check up she started to notice them.  If her hands were dirty ( or wet ) she would pick at her hands and see these "things" and try to pick them, or even BITE them off!  Yeah....I am not wanting to come into the room just in time to see her succeed in biting one off and having blood every where.  Yikes!  Also, we just didn't want the poor girl to get made fun of or have problems because of them.  She will have little scars but that is okay.

We call these her nubbies.  hee hee  Every once in a while Tyler will say, "Mom, do I have nubbies?"  and then he will giggle.  I tell him no.  Then he will say, "Does Kayla have nubbies?"  And I say, "Yes Tyler, you know she does."  He is super silly.  Saturday while we were out and about doing something I told him, "Hey Tyler, do you know how Kayla has nubbies?  Well she is going to go to the doctor on Tuesday and they are going to take them off for her."  You should have seen his face!  He said, "Will it hurt her?"  I replied by saying, "It might hurt a little bit but they are going to give her medicine that will make her go to sleep so she won't know what they are doing and it won't hurt her when they do it."  I thought my poor sensitive boy was gonna start balling.  He says, "I don't want them to hurt Kayla!"  Which is ironic to me since he had been SO mean to her lately.  This took many minutes of talking him down to convince him it was okay and she was going to be fine.  Sheeeesh.

Some tomorrow she reports at 7 and by 9ish or so we are hoping they will be GONE!  They do have to put her under but it only takes half an hour.  I have heard that childred usually become violent when they are waking up and try to scratch and hit and what not.  Oh JOY!  So mommy clipped her finger nails tonight and we are hoping for a smooth transition.

Tomorrow night is enrichment night at church and I am crossing my fingers I can go.  I REALLY want to go because we are talking about 72 hour kits and I am in need of it.  Am I crazy for thinking this is possible?!  I think maybe if I think positively about that it will happen.  Think positive thoughts for me please.  If you pray, include my baby girl in your prayers tonight and tomorrow.  I am sure all will be well.  I am sure she will be playing and giggling by dinner time......crossing my fingers.

Pregnancy Photography

SO my sister and her husband have been married for almost 7 years and have not been able to get pregnant. That got some great news recently when they found out they got picked by a birth mom to be parents. SO exciting for everyone and I can't imagine how exciting for her and her husband. Since meeting the birth mother they have become friends with her through the process and have decided to do some maternity pictures with each other. I get the pleasure og photographing them! YEAH! However, my sister and I are kind of stumped on ideas. So far we have ONE picture planned and that would be the typical hand forming the heart over the belly but it will be with one of my sisters hands, one of her husbands and obviously it will be over the bith mothers belly. I think it will be very sweet. Other then this idea we got a whole lot of nothing. Any one have any ideas? Just curious. I will be posting this on all three of my blogs so if you read more then one of them you obviously can ignores this on the other ones and only have to comment on one. But seriously ANY ideas would be nice, even if you think it might be dumb, you never know.

Thank you in advance! I get to take these pictures at the baby shower on the 16th in Northern Utah and I couldn 't be more excited! WOO HOO

4 Year Old Blues

My 4 year old is driving me ABSOLUTELY CRAZY! I REALLY wish he had started pre-k. You have to pay for it around here unless you are SUPER poor which we are not rich, nor really poor. We get stuck in the middle. We could afford it IF we made cut backs in other places but there are always something going on with us. For instance, we are leaving in 2 weeks for Utah and will be gone for 2 whole months. That's bad for a kid in school.

Any ways. He is CONSTANTLY talking. I think he thinks he will die if he doesn't hear his own voice for more like 2 minutes at a time. He also ask me question after question after QUESTION and most often it is the SAME question 50 different times. It seriously makes me want to rip my hair out!!! I think my blood pressure is probably through the roof today! We live in a small town so it takes us a good 40 minutes to an hour to go do anything other then Walmart. We went to the zoo on Tuesday with our good friends and it takes us a little under an hour to get there. USUALLY he watches his DVD player and I get occasional question or remark about a billboard or something. This time he talked to me the WHOLE time. Half the time I couldn't even hear him. The car is kind of like my own "alone" time sometimes. I listen to my music in the front and they watch the DVD's in the back. It helps me gain back my normal mental state before reaching a shopping destination where I know the kids are gonna drive me nuts and cause me to breath deeply into a brown paper bag. So him talking to me the whole time was driving me up the wall. I realize that sounds mean....but he talks to me ALLLLLLLLLL day long and the car is usually the time I actually get some quiet. Don't forget my Husband travels and I don't have a baby sitter so I am alone with my kids for WEEKS at a time with NO break so sometimes that hour car ride is all I get.

He also has been having a really hard to listening...I know its the age but it's also driving me bonkers! THEN he has been really mean to his sister. Pushing her, yelling at her, taking things away from her. CRAZY PEOPLE....I am going crazy! I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO looking forward to our Utah trip and the fact that we will be staying with my parents and I will get a LEAST a day or two of baby sitting. Last time I was there for a month my dad watched the kids 2 or 3 times so I could go shopping with my mom and my sisters. It means the WORLD to me. Cody and I actually got to go out on a date too! Not just a date but an OVER NIGHT DATE! That is only the second time in history since the kids were born.

Today we are driving up to San Antonio for a Air Force graduation for a relative. Wish us luck. It is a 3 to 4 hour drive and the kids have already almost pushed me over the edge today. I am praying they are great in the car and don't drive us nuts. Pray there are no casualties along the way and BOTH of my kids make it back. HAHA I am being dramatic of course. I LOVE my kids to death and I would just die if anything happened to either of them. It's kind of like that saying, "How can I miss you if you won't go away?" Sometimes I need that break and I am hoping Utah will be that for me. Until Sunday, I will be gone so I hope everyone has a great weekend and I hope to get up to date on some things next week. My daughter is having surgery on Tuesday so I have no idea what the week is gonna be like for us but I hope everything goes okay!!

I am so glad they are so darn cute!!!!  :)

Getting Behind

I HATE being behind on my blogs. I say BLOGS because of I have 3 of them. When you have 3 of them plus two kids who are home ALL DAY EVERY DAY and a husband who travels, you are bound to be behind on at least one blog ALL the time. It is annoying but I can't give up on a blog. :) SO that being said I am TRYING to get some projects up on here over the next day or two. We are leaving Thursday afternoon and will be gone all weekend and then Tuesday my baby is having some minor plastic surgery done and I have NO IDEA what that or the recovery will be like. And then just a 2 weeks after that I am leaving for 2 MONTHS to visit my family in Utah! YIPEE! I am SO excited about this. There will be lots going on while I am there and the trip really couldn't have come at a better time.

SO here is a project I recently did. EASY project. My son has been obsessed with Batman because they were doing Batman stuff at McDonald's. We went yard saling a few Saturdays ago and we found a Batman shirt but 50 cents but it was a 3t. My kid doesn't even wear "t" sizes any more. I decided to buy it any ways and was going to make a pillow or a bag for him. I wasn't really satisfied with either of those projects and my husband mentioned, "Why don't you just cut the Batman symbol out and sew it on a new shirt?" BRILLIANT I tell you! So I went to the dollar store, bought a black shirt and then sewed the Batman symbol on it. Tyler went nuts over it! He wore it 2 days in a row and I finally made him take it off. Then I washed it and he wore it again. It is hard to see in pictures because it is black but here it is

I really like how it gives the shirt a little something because the decal gives it a three dimension with the sides coming off. Any ways. My kid is BEGGING to use the computer and I need to shower so we can get ready to go to story time at 11. I am crossing my fingers that the stars align and I am able to post more this afternoon during nap time. So stay tuned for more...

Looking

I am ALWAYS looking for cool ideas to share with y'all from other bloggers.  I am especially excited to share them when it isn't from a well known popular 1000+ followed blog.   I found something tonight while browsing that made me so excited to try.  I wanted to share it with YOU and hopefully I will get to make one and share it soon.  Go to HERE and check it out!

Where Were You?

Where were you when you heard about the planes crashing into the World Trade Center?  Do you remember?  I was in the car with my dad on the way to my college ( yeah I was a loser and didn't drive! )  I had a big math test.  A week later the teacher let everyone re-take it because everyone did so awful.  The whole day was weird.  By the time lunch came around all the teachers were telling everyone to go home and be with their families.  My best friend Myra came over to my house and her, my sister Kim and I watched the news for hours.  Then we felt like we HAD to get out of the house and do something so we went to Chili's.  NO ONE WAS OUT AT ALL!  We told the waitress we felt bad for coming but we were going so crazy in the house watching the news.  She laughed and told us she had to be there so she may as well be doing something.

I remember the couple of days that followed it was almost impossible to buy an American Flag because SO many people ran out to buy them and show their support for this country.  I was fortunate to not have anyone I loved be killed or injured. Others were not so lucky. I can't even believe how many people died that day or the days to follow. I wish I would have saved news paper clippings for my childred but I am sure they will see their share of horrible things like this.

I am proud to be an American and will never forget this day.

Losing

Sometimes losing is a good thing. I tell my kid this all the time because he is obsessed with winning. one of the times it is GOOD to lose is weight! I have been on the trek to loose weight and it has been a slow process, mainly because I cheat...A LOT! Today I had pizza, Dr. Pepper. Enough said. But good for me, I know how to eat now and lose the weight or to stop gaining weight. One of the coolest things ever for me recently was shopping for a new bra! That is right, you heard it right. I got to buy a SMALLER bra. It wasn't a D cup but a C. Insert smiley face here.

I have never had big boobs. Growing up I had B cups and I always wished they were bigger. Read more about that is THIS POST. For those who had small boobs and then got bigger ones through pregnancy or kids would know what I meant in the other post.

Any ways. It is so weird being a smaller size now. It feels amazing to be fitting into clothes that haven't fit for years. It feels good to buy a C bra and have it make a difference in how my boobs look in my clothes but the weird part is...my boobs feel kind of small now. Go figure right?! As soon as the rest of me shrinks a little bit more I think I won't mind them being smaller but right now it seems a little strange. I guess this goes to show that we are never totally satisfied with ourselves. I am feeling good right now though so that is what is important. I REALLY wish I had more clothes that fit properly. I have a bunch of XXL shirts that are too big and then I have size 16 pants that are too big and fall down BUT size XL shirts and size 14 pants are still too tight. BOOOOOOOO I guess that means I just need to keep shrinking.

Been A While

It has been a while since I posted a "Only in Texas" post so here you go

Here is a Texas shaped tray with cheese and crackers and what not. This stuff cracks me up. Not super funny today, sorry. I have been slacking in the looking for Texas shaped stuff. One of these days I need to use the cookie cutter I bought. :)

A Wallet

When I made my mom the purse for her birthday seen here I told her I would make her some kind of wallet with the left over fabric. Well, like it took me a month or two to do the purse, naturally I didn't get around to making the wallet until she called to complain that she lost her library card and a credit card because I STILL hadn't done the wallet. Opps! SOOOOO this is what I came up with

I like it in theory but once it was put together I wasn't as happy with it. It is cute but there are things I would do differently the second time around. This wallet is based off of the one I got from my friend for my birthday back in April here. I dont' have a pattern for it but just use the finished one she gave me as a template. The pattern that she has she speaks very highly of and if I remember correctly, if you lay it out the right way you can get 5 or 6 wallets out of one yard of fabric. Awesome.

So Mom, I hope you like your wallet....now if only I could get to the post office to mail it to you! :)

Are You Kidding Me

Nope, I am not dead, just been busy. We have been having one of those weeks. Lots of running around trying to get things done and almost always along the way with lots of mishaps. I am actually going to be coping and pasting an exert from our family blog so I don't have to re-type it! ENJOY. It is bound to make you laugh your butt off!

Are You Kidding ME?
This is what I said to Tyler last night as I walked into the bathroom to get him out of the tub and saw that he had pooped a little in the bath tub! After having a particularly rough day with him due to a LOT Of whining on his part, it pouring rain out side the better part of the day and us needing to run around and get some errands done I was exhausted when we got home after 5. I was also not feeling well with a burning throat due to allergies.

He had had gas while playing and I said, "Do you need to go potty?" He assured me he didn't and it was just gas. He has NEVER pooped in the bath tub before. I told him if he did poop in the bath tub I was putting him straight to bed! I got Kayla out of the bath tub ( thank goodness! ) and was TRYING to put her diaper on as she continued to kicked me repeatedly ( she is having some private parts issues ) and I hear Tyler starts to yell "MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM". I yell back, "In a minute Tyler!" I didn't think anything of it. He does this 50 times day if he thinks I am not fast enough. He continue to yells for me and finally as I am walking through the kitchen I yell something back about I'm coming be PATIENT! I walk in the bath room and he says, "I had an accident"

"Are you kidding me Tyler!" You could tell me was upset. I told him to get out and sit on the potty. Basically his tummy was upset and when he was yelling for me he had to GO RIGHT THEN! I have told him a thousand plus times not to get out of the bath tub by himself and to WAIT for mommy. Well, he waited alright so I really couldn't be mad or punish him for my slowness. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr

I get him dressed and go into the living room to finish what I was doing. I had a photo shoot on Friday and the girl I did pictures for wanted me to put some up on my photography blog so she could see some. I was in the middle of doing this. Normally I don't do stuff like that in the middle of us taking a baths and what not but we had been without internet all day due to the rain and I had been trying to get the blog posted for almost 2 hours. I was about to hit "publish" and I notice that Kayla is gone and I could hear her making unfamiliar noises off in the distance. I thought to myself, "Oh no, I hope she isn't in side of the bath tub playing!" She LOVES the bath tub. She will crawl in that thing morning noon or night and just sit and play with her toys. She tries to get her alphabet letters to sticks even though they are not wet and has tons of fun knocking down all of mommy's shampoo and what not.

silly me finishes doing what I am doing which took about TWO extra minutes ( oh by the way, Cody was doing homework while all of this was happening so he really couldn't be of any help! ) I get up and start to walk down the kitchen and into the hall way. Nope, she isn't in her room or Tyler's and that leaves the bathroom. I slowly turn my head in that direction and again exclaim, "Are you KIDDING me!" She had NOT found her way into the bat tub THANK GOODNESS since there was poop still in it but instead went straight for the toilet. Now you are probably picturing her with her arms in it or something but oh no! Not my girl. She is special so she figured out how to actually get INSIDE of the potty and was sitting in it! You should have seen her face when I caught her! I am sure she would say the same thing about mine if she could talk.

PRICELESS. If only my camera had been handy...

So THIS is exactly how my whole week has been going. I DID manage to get a T I N Y bit of sewing done the other day. I will post pictures in a separate post. Hopefully that made you laugh because if anything, my life annoyances should be for your entertainment or they just stay announces. It is SO much better to laugh about stuff like this rather then get mad. SO laugh it up but just remember to be sure to post about it when your kid does it so I can laugh too! :)

And the winner IS...

I have two names I can NOT decide between for my sewing/craft store

Sew Katie

OR

Bobbin Around

I love both names. What do you guys think? Which one sounds better. I think the Bobbin Around would be really easy to come up with a design but I like both names equally. Let me know what you think. I am off to bed WITH MY HUSBAND! YEAH!!! So glad he is home.

Camera Strap Cover

FINALLY!  I made a camera strap cover!  Seriously have been meaning to do this since I got my sewing machine a year ago.  I even made one for my Mother in Law and one of my friends.  I even call myself a photographer and STILL hadn't made one.  I was really sad because I had high hopes for making it cute and kind of original.  THEN while laying in bed TRYING to fall asleep I was thinking about the material I had already cut out to make the strap ( I had cut it out and then my girl woke up from her nap early and I didn't get to start it ) and realized I cut the material the wrong size!  BOOOOOOOOOOO  So I changed things up and made the strap that they featured on Ucreat the month of June ( I think it was June any ways. )  It is cute and I really like it but one of these days I will make it the way I was planning on doing it.

Now I was be styling for my photo shoot on Friday!

I had a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG day! It stared out at 10:45 and ended...well it hasn't ended yet. But we had left at 10:45 and didn't get home until 8. We were supposed to be bringing daddy home with us around 5ish. INSTEAD he got stuck in Dallas waiting forever for the weather to clear up. Which meant we were stuck in Killeen WAITING for him and the kids were exhausted. Now it is almost ten and my hubby should be walking through the door in another 20 minutes or so. I let my boy stay up to say hi to Daddy. HE was SO excited to be picking daddy up and when I told him he wasn't gonna get to get him at the air port he got really sad and started to pucker. So I told him I would let him stay up with me. Thank goodness Kayla didn't understand because she missed her nap and was exhausted.

Hope everyone else had a good day. "See" you all tomorrow.
