I am thinking I need to frame this picture so I can remember when she is throwing her fits that she can be really stinking cute too!  haha

Pizza Cake

My daughter turned 2 yesterday!  I can't believe it.  2 years goes by pretty freaking fast!!!  She is a pizza loving girl so we were planning on having pizza for her little party.  I was trying to decide hat kind of cake to make her.  I googled all the things she liked with "cake" after to see what would come up.  I had a couple of options but since we were having a PIZZA party, I figured we needed a pizza cake to go with it. It is amazing how real these cakes look considering how EASY it was!  So here is what it looked like.

The frosting probably took my the longest trying to get the cool right but then gave up and stayed with this color.  The pepperonis are fruit roll ups cut into circles.  The olives ( because she LOVES olives ) are black frosting I made circles with on a sheet on parchment paper and let dry then I just threw them on.  The cheese is white chocolate that you just use a potato peeler or a cheese grater.  I used a cheese grater.  Overall I think it looks pretty good.  If you have the time and are interested google pizza cakes and see what comes up.  There was some amazing ones to look at for ideas.  It was fun reading what everyone used for all of the toppings and what not.  Also, I read up on how to make box cakes mixes better.  I used milk instead of water and butter instead of oil and I think this cake was super moist and yummy!  I will for sure be doing that again.

I have been a baking queen lately!  Since I have been getting more and more into recipes I think once a week or so I am going to be posting something I made for dinner or a great recipe.  Everyone needs good recipes right?!  I have been into the whole wheat stuff because that is what I am supposed to eat on the south beach diet.  And I recently discovered something I had never heard of before but I will save it for another post!  I am off to bed EARLY!  My kids wore me out this week.  Well, that and all the baking.  Oh and just so I don't forgot check out the "only in Texas" thing I did to help us not miss Texas so much

I REALLY wanted to decorate it with the red white and blue with the star but after baking and making so many other things I gave in and just did white frosting.  These were delicious cookies.  I had no problem eating at least 6 of these bad boys this weekend which just so you know are SO NOT south beach diet approved!!  But it was my babies birthday and so we lived it up!  Tomorrow I go back on South beach and hopefully can get my self doing my work out video more then I did last week.  HOw many times did I do it last week you ask, ONCE!  And I was sore for 3 days...

My friend on facebook wrote, "It's hard work trying to bring sexy back!"  Ain't that the truth  haha

Today we found the playground around the corner from our house.  It was our first time going.  Check out how cool it is

My girls hair was SO red today and I got a couple of pictures

I did some crafts and sewing today too but I don't have the pictures uploaded yet.  I was SO excited to make myself a pair of house shoes ( we have cold floors and I was ripping all of my socks! )  and they are too big!  BOOOOO  Any one where a size 10 in women and want to buy a pair of house shoes?   haha  I'll post pictures tomorrow.  I hope everyone had a great day.

Etsy Love

Well my friends, I have FINALLY opened my etsy site!  Can I get a woo woo!  I can't believe how much time it takes to get it all set up and done.  I still have 10 to 15 things to list on here that I haven't finished taking pictures for or something like that.  I think tomorrow since it is Sunday I will take a break and not put anything else on there.  Then Monday I might have some time after our play date to add a few things.  Hopefully by the end of the week I will have at least 10 more things up in the store.  For those who want to go look now here it is

SEW KATIE

Here are some of the things I have been working on that I added recently

I have been creating some all white hair clips to and some belts for brides or anyone wanting all white accessories.  I STILL want to make some garter's with the personalized washer on them like I did for my friend.  I haven't had time to do it yet but I hope this week I can make a couple.

Right now I have TONS of hair things and I hope in the future to keep adding lots more sewing things.  Purses, wallets, sun glass cases and more.  We shall see what my life allows.  At the moment I have no life so it's perfect timing!   haha  Thank you to those who have support me and encouraged me.  Also thank you in advance for those who put links on their blogs or facebook pages.  I greatly appreciate it and hope I can continue to create and have fun doing it!

Dora Skirt

Kayla has been REALLY into Dora lately.  She loves her.  She has three Dora dolls and she loves them.  I decided to make her a Dora skirt for Christmas and I think it turned out SO cute!  I put it on her and she wore it around the house.  I tried getting a picture but all of them were blurry.  For now here is a picture of just the skirt.

Maybe I will have her wear it to church Sunday and then I can get some new pictures.  I can't believe how grown up my little girl is getting. She'll be 2 on the 29th and I just can't believe it.  I still need to figure out what to do for her for a cake for her birthday.  I was thinking about trying to do a Dora cake/cookies/cupcakes.  Not sure yet though.  She is really into Toy Story, Team Umizoomi and Pex dispensers.  She also loves Despicable Me.  She goes around the house yelling "OH YEAHHHHH"  all the time and she usually kicks her leg up when she says it.  She cracks me up constantly.

Sew Katie

Heehee  I love my new logo for my soon to be etsy site!  DON'T you!?!?  Still hoping to have it up and running this weekend.  I have stuff allllllllll over the place in my kitchen.  Head bands, hair clips, brooches, material, pins, scissors and my poor, sweet husband hasn't said a single word to me about all of my crap out.  As long as I make him a little money right?  haha

I'm Turning Into My MOTHER

And I guess that ain't a bad thing!  My sister in law Stacie bought me a FABULOUS Christmas present.  Don't you hate when you buy something for some one that's just OKAY and they give you something awesome?  Of course I hate when I give someone something awesome and them give me something okay so it goes both ways.  She bought me a pair of really awesome sewing scissors.  They are sharp and I heart them.  I used them for the first time the other day while cutting some satin to make flowers with.  Boy did it get me all excited about sewing and doing crafts!  I was so excited in fact that I didn't want ANYTHING to happen to them.  I had several pair of scissors that I tried to keep as my "Nice" scissors that would get found and used for things that I didn't want them to be used for.  While packing and moving just about every pair of scissors I own ended up getting used to cut tape.  YIKES!  Now they all stick and I hate them.  So as I was holding this awesomely wonderful scissors that could kill someone they are so sharp ( I think so any ways...) I was horrified at the thought of them getting sticky because apparently placing them in my craft draw was not enough.  I marked them

My mother does this too....and then I laughed at myself for doing something I knew my mother did.  Who said it was such a bad thing to be like our mothers any ways!?!

Clarification...

I don't blog for numbers either.  I started out this blog for me and my friends to write things I didn't want to put on my family blog.  I didn't even put anything craft related on here until after 20 something post or something.  It became a crafting blog once I got my sewing machine.  I actually don't want it to be a "craft" blog but a blog with a little bit of everything. Most of the time the crafting takes over just because that's what I chose to share with every one.  I was more frustrating that someone who has a blog that I don't consider that great or entertaining or unique, seems to pick up readers like crazy.  Thanks for your comments though.  I appreciate it.  Sometimes it is nice to vent because I know others feel the same and it helps.  :)

ON a side note I was TOTALLY freaking out yesterday.  We FINALLY got our table and chairs delivered which meant I could FINALLY sew!  WOO HOO  I had cut a bunch of stuff out this week and it was all ready to go.  I got out my sewing machine and the foot petal wasn't with it!!!!  I started looking in all the places I thought it might be packed still and was coming up with a whole lot of nothing!  I was gonna cry because I have been DYING to sew for weeks.I looked for like two hours and was so frustrated when I finally decided where it might be and it was.  Once I put the kids down for naps I got two things done.  Thankfully both were gonna be tutorials I was planning on adding but one of them ended up needing different measurements.  Hmmmmmm.  And that;s how creating without a pattern goes right?!  Trial and error.  So once I get the measurements right, I will post it.  As far as the other one goes I will hopefully get it up and running soon.

We are going to church for the first time since moving and we looked up our church on line last nigth to figure out where it was and what time it starts and I was so sad.  It doesn't start until 1:30!  That is the WORSE time of day for kids because Kayla takes naps at 2 every day.  She is gonna be fun.  Wish us luck.  I hope everyone else has a great sunday as well!

Venting A Little...

Hello everyone!  I have been browsing blogs and etsy a lot lately looking for things I like about people's advertising, logos, set up of their shop, pictures...you know research because I am about to open up my shop!  I got my logo made up thanks to my friend Jason, whom I have known since I was like 6 or something and had TOTALLY forgot he did graphic designs!  DUH!  It wasn't until his wife left me a comment to remind me.  I think it is so funny how I have so many male friends who, once they got married, I am not friends with their wives and hardly talk to them!  heehee

ANYWAYS- I REALLY don't understand sometimes what makes a blog popular?  I know if basically comes down to either REALLY awesome NEW, fresh ideas OR ( unfortunately )  butt kissing and networking!  I barely have time to make the crafts and post them on here but to have to network with other craft bloggers all day everyday is just too much sometimes.  When I do, my numbers go up. When I don't, they stay the same whether I am posting everyday or not. I think it is HIGHLY annoying when some big blog with thousands of followers says, "Check out this new blog I found" and I go there and yes, cute blog...but NOTHING is original and I am left thinking, why did they feature this blog for being NEW?  Does anyone else feel that way ever?  Like, there are certain tutorials that have been on EVERYONE'S blog so why waste time doing them and yet,  people are STILL posting them on their blogs.  Stuff like that irritates me.  I don't know why.  Mainly because I guess if I am going to have a "popular" blog where people come to get good ideas or learn or enjoy my crafting, I want it to be because some of my stuff is original and not the SAME thing everyone else is doing too.  That being said,  am about to jump on one band wagon which is the feather hair clips.  I found them to be so freaking cute, yet I would never wear one.  Isn't that weird?  Does anyone else ever find themselves loving something even though they themselves would never own one and wear one?  I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that my hair is short and I think the clips look weird on me.  Then other thing is that I go to walmart and the post office and so where the heck am I gonna wear this cute feather clip too?  I can just picture me in my PJ's around the house vacuuming with this awesome clip in my hair and NO make up on.

I am working on some tutorials right now and hoping to get my etsy site up and running within another week or two. I have the logo and now I need to work on making me some tags for my stuff and some hair clip holders to clip them onto.  I also hate the crafting and selling means doing all this other crap too but if my stuff starts selling I will be happy and it will be totally worth it!

Looooooooooooong Overdue

About 5 months ago ( or so it seems ) I was gonna be out of town and needed someone to teach my lesson for me at church. I asked someone to do it and thankfully she said yes. To say thank you I wanted to make her something. She sews too so I wanted to make her something sewing related. I decided to make her a pin cushion. I of course waited until two days before I needed to give it to her to start it. I went on line and I found TONS of pin cushions. Here are some of the ones I found that I liked

There were a couple of others I had on here but when I checked the links, they were no longer there!  Boooo

I had printed out a pattern for one the night before and then realized that there was just not enough time to make the one I wanted to so I settled for a different one. I got a jar of baby food and cleaned it out really well and took the paper off. Then I cut out a circle of fabric and made a ball. Then you glue that to the lid and then glue on some ribbon to hide the mess. That's pretty much it. It turned out REALLY cute! Stupid me forgot to take a picture though. But I wanted to make one for myself. I loved how it was a pin cushion that you could actually put stuff inside of. SO I got out my skull and cross bone fabric and went to town...well sort of. i got EVERYTHING I needed and even cut out a circle and then pushed it to the side. Here I am MONTHS later and still hadn't of done it. Well, yesterday was the day! I made it and as I was going to fill the ball with stuffing I remembered having the debate with myself when I was packing everything if I should take the bag of stuffing, or if I should throw it away because I "never use it!" I looked in a couple of boxes and determined I of course threw it away. What to do now...I had to improvise and so I took so strechy knit that was just sitting in a draw and balled that up and shoved it into the ball I made. Did it work? YES Did it look good? NOPE! BUUUUUUT I got my pin cushion done!

I will give you ONE guess what I found about an hour after I completed this project! haha Go figure

Frustrating

Opening up an etsy.com site can be frustrating! I already have one opened and working but it is for photography only. I thought about putting craft stuff on the same one but it is under my photography business name which I didn't really want to mix with my crafts and sewing. Then I decided to just open up another site. Crafts and sewing only. It took forever to find a name which I FINALLY settled on but now comes the design. I AM NOT A graphic designer nor do I know ANYTHING about graphic design. It's amazing I have been able to figure out how to do simple things here on blogger. I want to make some labels for my purses and what nots. I have been looking for HOURS on line for info. I already know what I want my logo to look like. It will take someone who knows how to do computer graphics like 5 to 10 minutes TOPS ( I am pretty sure ) to figure out how to make it but I just CAN'T seem to wrap my head around it. Does ANYONE know how to design stuff and would be willing to help me? Leave me a comment or shoot me an email at katiesclicks@yahoo.com
Also, if you know of anyone who designs for cheap or is willing to trade services let me know. Thank you for your help ( hopefully I get some help! haha ) And I REALLY hope to get to blog more soon. I am using the internet from my phone right now because we don't have internet at the house yet. Also, we are not unpacked all the way. there are still lots of boxes and things for me to do but I have been TRYING desperately to find time to craft and do other stuff. I bought 5 or 6 epatterns right before we moved and haven't got to try them out. I can't wait to get to try all of them.

I hope y'all are having a great New Year so far! My husband and I are starting the South Beach diet tomorrow. This will be my third time doing phase one but my husbands first. We'll see how it goes. I hope the weight FLIES off like it usually does. My stress eating during the holidays and packing process plus moving out here and eating out for like a week straight was awful for my body. Let's hope I can get back into eating and being healthy!

WE MADE IT!

We made it to our new house here in California! It was SUCH a long trip. Longest three days EVER! It was nice meeting my parents here and it was weird seeing the house for the first time AFTER we had already signed our lease and HAD to stay there! haha I REALLY like it though. I can't wait to post pictures but it will be a while. Right now I have no internet and because we are out in the boonies we are having difficulty getting someone to provide us service! BOOOOOO Hopefully soon though because I am DYING to get back on the bloggin train. I HATE not getting to blog.
