Apron Kick

I wanted to make an apron. It all started with an owl dishtowel from target. I am sure you have all seen it if you shop there. It is SO cute and I ended up with 6 of them. I bought four and my lovely niece Madison picked out the other two for me. I decided I REALLY did need to make something with at least one of them. That sent me on a search for a cute apron. I am not a girly girl but I saw the old fashioned ones that are a heart on the top and I HAD to make one. Weird right? Any ways. I freaking love how it turned out. If I ever make one again I will make the top a lot smaller because it makes my boobs look even bigger then they already are and really, I don't need that. Maybe 8 years ago but now after the kids, I'm good. haha

I have had the owl fabric for like 3 months now dying to use it. Everything I kept thinking of to use it for was summer stuff and it's got WINTER owls on it for goodness sakes so I just hadn't used it yet. I love it paired with the owl dishtowel I used as the heart and the pocket. Isn't it cute? I have an oven mitt and a pot holder to match, not that anyone will ever see that. The funny thing is now I am on am apron kick. I already have another one in the works that I can't WAIT to make. Maybe one of these days I will actually get around to it. I have too many projects going on right now. I need to focus. One is something for my husband for Valentine's day. I can't wait to get it done so I can post it in case any one wants to copy it because I think it is going to be hysterical. Hopefully it turns out that way and doesn't come out lame. I needed embroidery floss though and I don't have any and haven't gone any where the last two weeks that carry it. Tomorrow I am taking the kids shopping and we are going to get some. WOO HOO

Aside from that I have also done some hair clips recently.

I absolutely LOVE the way the zebra one with the red flower came out! LOVE IT! Hopefully my friend likes them too.

I also did this owl dress for Kayla. I got this owl onesie at a Kid to Kid place in Waco for 50 cents. It still fits Kayla width wise but is too short for her. So I took some more of that lovely pink material I have been using a lot lately ( for any one who is wondering just how much of that pink crap I bought, it was a sheet set so I have A LOT of it ) and made a skirt, gathered it and then sewed it on. I think it came out adorable and can't wait to see it on her. Her birthday is in two more days and I could just cry. That first year just went by WAY too fast!!!

Ugliest Skirt EVER

So I wanted to make a skirt to do house work in. I NEVER thought I would like cleaning house in a skirt until I tried it and it was amazing! It feels so free...I have never looked back, except when it is cold because then I get goosebumps and my already hairy legs get even hairier. Any ways. I found a tutorial that I wanted to do. Basically you just take a sheet ( because then it is already hymned at the bottom ) and you make sew it together, fold it over and put in some elastic. Yup. that's it...so I wanted it to be flowy...you know, since I would be bending down and squatting and what not, so I decided to double my waste size.....Yup, doubled. It sounded like a good idea at the time. I had a flat sheet that is the ugliest sheet you have ever seen. Someone gave it to us when we got married. If it was you, THANK YOU! Don't be offended because I DID repurpose them instead of throwing them in the trash or let's say, burning them.

Any ways...back to the skirt. It is the UGLIEST skirt ever and I FREAKING LOVE IT! It adds at LEAST 30 lbs to me because it is SO HUGE and has SO MUCH volume its comical! So here is me in a normal skirt

Tyler had me holding his golf club for some reason...

And here is me in THE skirt

I swear I am NOT pushing my stomach out. I think it even makes my face look bigger haha Here is the funny thing about this skirt. I told you I do house work in it which often times involves bending over. which means THIS

I mean seriously...who wants to see that or better yet "get with" that? I won't even go outside in this skirt to throw trash away, that's how bad it is but my wonderful husband...he sees me bending down in this skirt and he still gets all hot and bothered. I guess that's when you know it's true love. Well, that or the fact that he is a guy and can get turned on from almost anything....but I am PRETTY sure it is the true love thing!!!

Do you watch Friends? Do you know the episode where Monica is sick and she is trying to convince Chandler she is still sexy? "What, you don't want to get with this?" she says in a nasally voice while awkwardly fondling herself. Cody and I do that all the time. That is how I feel in this skirt. The fact that my husband still wants to have sex with me after seeing me bend over in it is freaking hysterical, even to me....the one bending over in it.

More Tie Shirts

One of the best parts about growing up with a close group of friends is that when you all get married you just multiply your friends! My friend Jared has an awesome wife and she saw the tie shirt I made Tyler on my blog and wrote and told me she had to have one for her son. That was like 3 months ago and I finally bought some shirts and made them two! I think they are so cute.

I used the same flower fabric I have been using for several projects now ( and I still have more! haha ) Then I used left over from a fat quarter I bought to make a flower with for the second one. I LOVE that one. They called me on Monday to let me know they got them in the mail and love them. I am glad. It makes me so happy to make other people happy!!!!!

I have crafted other things this week but the pictures aren't on my lap top yet so hopefully later today I will get them up here.

ANYONE???

Does ANYONE I know who reads this know how to fix things on blogs? When I first started this blog I added the picture up top and it was suppose to be BEHIND the title of the blog but it won't do it. It's either a picture OR the title and it is supposed to be both. I can NOT figure it out. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

Check it out!

I made Kayla the cutest little shirt. It only took me about an hour from start to finish

To bad it is too small huh?! What a bummer but don't worry! I have a cousin who is having a baby girl in a couple of months so I will just have to send it her way and try again with a bigger one for Kayla.

I Need To Get Something Off My Chest!!!

First of all, What is with all the ruffles and fake material flowers people in the craft world are adding to ADULT shirts? Seriously?! I think they are way cute on children's clothes and I will admit, sometimes one or two is cute on adult items. SOMETIMES. However, I feel everyone is going a little adult applique crazy!

Wow I feel better already. Another thing though...Why do people have to be rude? I was reading a craft blog I just found and she had this really cute project I clicked on because I totally want to do it with Tyler for Valentine's day. I saw she had two comments. One was someone telling her how cute it was and the other was this Bitchy chick who wrote something about how this project looked EXACTLY like the one she did a YEAR ago on her blog and she was featured on BLAH, BLAH, BLAH and left her a link to go check it out. Seriously people, it's a craft that probably a MILLION people thought they invited themselves. I do that ALL the time. I think, "I am going to make..." fill in the blank, thinking I am a genius, and then I will totally see it on someones blog and then notice it is all over the place. Lighten up people! The whole craft blog thing is awesome for everyone to share ideas and sell things so they can still be a stay at home mom, but don't be all bitchy and annoying if someone made something and didn't realize someone had already thought of it. LAME! Okay, I thought I was done but one more thing. I have another annoyance and then I am done for the day but I HATE when I go onto etsy.com to look at something and I see 20 people showing a 30dollar PDF download for something you can find 100's of free tutorials for on line. I mean, I guess if the person is dumb enough to pay the money or wants better intrusions okay, but I think people are just taking advantage of the whole blogger/craft/etsy world. Do your homework people. You probably can find your item FREE as a tutorial on line somewhere.

PS Did I tell you I am PMSing and due to "start" any day now....haha

NO JOKE

So today was dance class and when we walked out of class the SAME Offender was washing the Sheriffs car again! hahahahaha

Any ways. Here are pictures of the purse I made for my sister in Law Lauren. I really like how it turned out. I didn't used a pattern, I just went with the flow.

Also here are the tie onesies I made for my soon to be newphew Seth. I made two

This one is a retro one I because my brother loves vintage ties. Then I made this one

Cause my SIL Lauren loves the beach. This one is special though because it is made of one of my nephew Noah's old shirts from when he was 6 months old. Every time he wore it everyone complimented my sister on his outfit. So my sister gave it to us for Tyler to wear. The problem was now the outfit was faded and had stains. I decided to just use the fabric for projects and thought what better project then this! NOw all three nephews get to wear the same outfit...kind of.

Jeans to Skirt in 0 to 4....DAYS! haha

Yeah so my mother in law sent me a bunch of jeans. Wasn't that nice of her? Three of the pair fit but there were two pair of black jeans that were a little too big and fit strange in the thighs and bum but they were NICE jeans so I decided to try and make a skirt. I looked up a couple of tutorials on line and basically everyone said you needed to rip out the seems and that it was time consuming. Yeah, they weren't joking. It took me two nights of watching TV ripping out seems. Then a day or so of sewing. I didn't get to sew much the last couple of days.

I like how it came out. It doesn't look as good in the pictures...of course maybe that is due to the fact that my living room is SO dark, I was too lazy to get out my tripod so I set my camera on the couch propped up with a remote control and the camera was wayyyyyyyyyyyyy across the room from me. Oh well. One of these days I might have a human being take some pictures for me. Here you go

I actually like how it turned out. I think I might wear it OUT of the house tomorrow

Transfering Images to Wood

So I found this a blog and tutorial about transferring images onto wood. I thought it seemed too good to be true so I REALLY wanted to try it. A friend's birthday was last week and I just took family pictures for her so I thought I would make her something with her kids on it. I had a little "wooden" ( I put it in quotes because I think it was actually particle board ) thing I got at the Dollar Tree that I was going to paint for something for Cody for Valentines day ( which I will also post when I am done with it ). I got all the stuff together and tried it out and it WORKED! I was so excited. Here is the finished product

I antiqued the picture before hand because I had a feeling it would present that way once the images was transfered and I am glad I did. Then I took tissue paper with roses and different color flowers on it and mod podged them to the sides. I love how it came out. Then I cut off the ribbon they used and put in pink kind to help bring the colors together. Isn't it cute?! Now I just need to go back to the Dollar Tree and get more of these to make as gifts. Here is the link to the wonderful tutorial
HERE

I also made my friend a wallet. I hadn't made one before because they seemed kind of complicated. THIS tutorial I found was AWESOME. The only thing I didn't like was that is used CM instead of inches so I kept confusing myself. It was such a good tutorial though it would be almost impossible to mess up. I am going to make myself one this week sometime with a fat quarter I got with Owls on it. I am so excited. Here is the one I did for Jennifer

Purses

I am OBSESSED with making purses!! Here are my latest

For my SIL Stacie

I made this for her ON Christmas! haha It only took me two hours tops and I think it turned out really cute. I LOVE the fabric I used for the top and inside. I have had it forever but it is stretchy and so I hadn't figured out what to do with it yet.

Then I made this diaper bag for myself

And guess what I made it out of? ( and guess what? I have another one in a fabric that is WAY cute so I can make something else out of it! )

I took the sleeves off to make the bottle holders on the side

And the stretchy pocket on the inside of the bag. I separated it by stitching in down the middle.

Then I took the existing pocket from the shirt/cover thing and put it on the other side of the inside of the bag!

I LOVE how the bag turned out but I am not in love with the bag itself, if that makes any sense. I made it a little too big and I am not IN LOVE with the pattern on the material. I like it a lot, I just don't LOVE it. But for it being my first diaper bag and pretty much winging it, I love it. It was pretty easy too. Now I just need to make a cute one out of material I LOVE and figure out if any one wants this one.....Any takers?

Then I made a purse I AM in love with. I don't know how often I will use it because the fabric is LOUD and its a smaller purse but check out how cute it is

The inside is SOFT! Cody turned it inside out and rub his face with it. heehee Now I have to make a purse for my sister in law Lauren, a purse for my hoodrat Stacy and a diaper bag for my bestie Sarah! Yeah

I know it seems like I have been a busy sewer...Not really. This was all during Christmas or the week after. Cody left on Monday and the only thing I did this week was this:

Both I did by hand while watching TV after the kids went to bed. I really want to get to a place where I feel like I am good enough that I can maybe sell some things. The hair clips I could totally sell now because there really isn't much to those, but the sewing makes me nervous. Any ways the one owl thing is a holder for my phone which turned out cute but I made it slightly too short so I need to redo it one of these days and then the other is a beanie I made for Kayla. I LOVE how that one turned out BUT It is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too big. I decided to just wait until next year instead of trying to fix it. It will still be cute next year because I KNOW I will STILL love Owls then too. :) I made it out of a sweater my friend Sarah gave me. Don't worry, I asked permission before I cut it up. She just laughed at me and then wondered what I was going to do with it. I LOVE IT!

Heavy Petting

It is no secret that I LOVE the dollar store. In fact, I LOVE anything cheap. haha I LOVE Big Lots and places like that. When Cody and I were dating I would go to the dollar store in Cedar City a lot. One time I found this book called "Heavy Petting; Romantic Advice From My Cat" I about died! The book was so funny and they had about 3 or 4 of them so I bought ALL of them. I gave one to Cody as a present. heehee

Every time I find it and read it, it makes me laugh. I wanted to share it with everyone. I accidentally skipped a couple of pages. Sorry. ENJOY
