BIG Dress

So about a month or so ago I went yard sale shopping with my rad SIL Stacie.  We found this one yard sale that said they had plus sizes.  I found some AWESOME stuff there and they were selling everything for so cheap.  I got these two dresses that were size 24 which is way too big for me.  They only wanted one dollar for each dress.  I figured I could take them in or worse case scenario I could cut off the top and make them skirts.  Well, I got them home and put one on over my clothes and quickly realized that taking them in was gonna be a challenge.  The boobs were HUGE and so were the arms.  I started taking the waste in and my SIL said, "You could maybe just do a belt"  Well, I had been wanting to make a belt so I was excited.  Here is the dress with no changes.

SO I bought a shirt with an elastic belt that was on sale for 5 dollars!  It was kind of ugly though.  It had huge silver snaps on it and I didn't like it.  I took the scissors to it and cut the buttons off.  Then I sewed the elastic together to make a circle and threw it on over my dress.  Not only did it work but it was cute ANDDDDDDD  it made me look way skinny because it was showing off the smallest part of my body.  Check it out

It has also made a lot of my shirts that were HUGE on me look cute. I don't have many that fit good right now since losing some weight, but now a lot of them are cute on me again! YEAH! So go out and buy some elastic and make a belt. Or do like me and find a cute shirt with an elastic belt and alter it. I bet I spent less on the shirt WITH the belt then I would have if I would have gone to JoAnns and bought elastic and did it. :) The shirt I bought ain't bad either...maybe I will show you that some day too.

I decided to join some parties....it's been a while and I am off for Utah and won't be able to post for a couple of days so I better get them in now while I can! :)

Kids Crafts

My boy LOVES making things. However, his definition of make things is WATCHING mommy make stuff for him.  The other day he was DYING to make something from Nick Jr.  They have TONS of free printable and crafts and he will spend an hour just looking through all of it on the Internet.  I told him sure and then after he had been looking for a while I remembered we were out of ink on our printer.  Most of the crafts require you to print something and he was not happy.  His bottom lip started to stick out and the tears started to form in his eyes and it was about 30 minutes to nap time ( which really isn't enough time to craft! )  So I told him maybe we could find a Halloween craft on the Internet that didn't require us to print something.  We found something right about nap time so I promised him while he was sleeping I would make it for him.  He loved it.  What you do is cut out the shape of a pumpkin on construction paper.  Then you get black construction paper and cut out different face parts; nose, mouth, eyes, eye brows...anything you can think of.  I made 3 different mouths, a couple sets of eyes and 3 or 4 noses.  Then I took cheap magnets I had bought from the dollar section at Walmart and cut them up and hot glued them to the facial parts.  Then you can either put this on the refrigerator.  We have a small magnet board so I put it on there.  Then they can have fun changes the pumpkins face as much as they want.

Anyone else having trouble with blogger turning pictures side ways that aren't supposed to be sideways? This is the 3rd or 4th time this week it has done that to me and I can NOT figure out how to fix it. I even deleted the picture and reloaded it. The picture isn't cropped at all either. Boooooooo

Any ways. Both of my kids enjoyed this craft and have been having fun changing the faces of the pumpkin.

Cakes MMMMMMMM

This weeks photo Theme on Trendy Treehouse was CAKES.  I was really into decorating for a while but never did much with it.  It was making me fat!  haha  i wanted to post pictures of the cakes I made Cody, which is funny because he doesn't really like cake or frosting.  I was worried someone would get upset and think they were not family appropriate so I decided not to link up to it but I still wanted to share them here with y'all especially since I have not been posting much lately.  So check these out and have a laugh.

He had been in Kuwait for three months and had just come home!  Another time he was gone I made him a cake that said, "Welcome home...Now get NAKED!"  I can't find the picture or I would post it.  Enjoy

Nubbies Bye Bye

Here are some pictures from just before Kayla's surgery

Last look at the nubbies :)  ( the surgeon marked them blue so he knew what to remove.....probably not necessary!  haha )

I had just put the gown on her and she stepped right out of it!  It was HUGE and it was the smallest they had.

This was the only good one I could get with the gown on.  She was a trooper.  One of the nurses made her a balloon out of a rubber glove.  Tyler and Kayla thought that was the best thing ever!  I wish I would have taken a picture of the "bandage" they put on er hands after they sewed her up.  It was TINY!  It was kind of like on the movie Adventure's in Babysitting when the kid gets the knife in his foot and they only give him one stitch and he is worried they are gonna think he is a wuss!  haha  She had 3 or 4 stitches on the bigger one and just 2 on the small one.  We were about 15 minutes from home and she ripped the little band aide off and was pulling on her stitches.  BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO   So from now on we have wrapped her whole hand in adhesive tape.  She looks like a boxer!  She is doing good though.
h
Now my niece is sick!  She was having trouble breathing so they took her to the ER and they sent her to the childrens hospital! She has been hooked up to a machine so she can breath.  They don't really know EXACTLY what is wrong but thinks she is having some kind of asthma attack.  First they have even heard of her possibly having asthma.  If you know my brother Scott and his kids, please keep Miss Bradlie in your prayers.  Thank you.

I FINALLY have a sewing project to add!  WOO HOO  I am going to wait a day or two ( If I can stand it ) to post pictures because it is being mailed out tomorrow.  I FINALLY finished the purse for Crystal who was my giveaway winner!  YEAH!  I really didn't intend on it taking soooooooooooo long to get it done but I had issues with it.  I am happy with the way it turned out but also annoyed at my sewing machine.  I am starting to have some slight issues with it and it is now showing in projects like this.  Hopefully the recipient will like it and that will be what is most important.

Okay now I must go to bed.  It is almost midnight and my husband has already been in bed for an hour and a half.  HAHA  Poor guy.  The sad thing is, I didn't even get what I needed to get done tonight.  I figured the rest I would do in the morning.  I needed to print out a picture and the first one came out grainy.  No big deal.  i just printed out the bigger size format only to find out we are out of blue and magenta ink so it was all discolored.  No problem.  Cody went to Walmart to buy me ink and some mailing envelopes and they only had magenta, no blue.  CRAP.  Maybe it will print okay without the blue after we get the pink in.....no such luck.  FINE, I will use my other printer but then realized that it was unplugged and out of it's normal spot in the room due too some remodeling going on in my house.  It also has plastic over it and is in a weird spot to get to in the rooml...double crap.  I'm going to bed and gonna print it tomorrow.  It HAS to get done then because it needs to be mailed tomorrow for a photo contest cut off date of FRIDAY!  YIKES.....

All Is Well

All is well at my house.  My daughter did great!  I will post pictures later.  For now we are off to story time at the library.  My kids love story time at the library.  Last week before it started Tyler actually read a book to the librarian who does story time.  Her name is Cheryl and Tyler loves her.

I hope everyone has a happy Wednesday.  I have LOTS of cleaning to do since we are having people over for dinner tomorrow night.  Don't you hate when you have tons of cleaning and it gets in the way of your crafting time?!?!  Man I HATE that.  I have a little over a week left until we go to Utah and LOTS of crafts I wanted to do.  Some will probably have to wait until I get there.  Good thing my mom owns a sewing machine because I plan on using it.  :)   I am also doing another maternity shoot on Friday for my friends Lisa and Jason.  Can't wait.  I am really enjoying having photography jobs to do lately.  It has been so much fun.  I got hit up for another one last night at church.  It may not happen until December when I get back, but I am looking forward to it as well.  It is for a friend who wants to get really good pictures of her grand kids as a Christmas present for their parents.  How fun is that.  They are the CUTEST little blond girls with big blue eyes.  It should make for great pictures.  :)

I will TRY and get on here later to post some cute pictures of my girl in her hospital gown.  She took it off 2 or 3 times but we finally got her to keep it on.  heehee

TOMORROW

Why am I still up?  I have to get up at at LEAST 5:30am ( which is early for ME! ) and I also need to get my children up, dressed and in the car ready to drive off by 6:15 at the latest.  My husband is NOT going to work tomorrow, thank goodness.

My sweet little baby girl tried really hard to grow 6 fingers on each hand.  One looks like a wart, the other you can tell upon close inspection that it was indeed a finger and you can even see teeny tiny finer prints on it.  We are having them removed tomorrow.  Why now someone asked me?  Well, the doctor told us to wait until she was at least a year old.  that came and went and got pushed back for one reason or another.  Right before her 18 month check up she started to notice them.  If her hands were dirty ( or wet ) she would pick at her hands and see these "things" and try to pick them, or even BITE them off!  Yeah....I am not wanting to come into the room just in time to see her succeed in biting one off and having blood every where.  Yikes!  Also, we just didn't want the poor girl to get made fun of or have problems because of them.  She will have little scars but that is okay.

We call these her nubbies.  hee hee  Every once in a while Tyler will say, "Mom, do I have nubbies?"  and then he will giggle.  I tell him no.  Then he will say, "Does Kayla have nubbies?"  And I say, "Yes Tyler, you know she does."  He is super silly.  Saturday while we were out and about doing something I told him, "Hey Tyler, do you know how Kayla has nubbies?  Well she is going to go to the doctor on Tuesday and they are going to take them off for her."  You should have seen his face!  He said, "Will it hurt her?"  I replied by saying, "It might hurt a little bit but they are going to give her medicine that will make her go to sleep so she won't know what they are doing and it won't hurt her when they do it."  I thought my poor sensitive boy was gonna start balling.  He says, "I don't want them to hurt Kayla!"  Which is ironic to me since he had been SO mean to her lately.  This took many minutes of talking him down to convince him it was okay and she was going to be fine.  Sheeeesh.

Some tomorrow she reports at 7 and by 9ish or so we are hoping they will be GONE!  They do have to put her under but it only takes half an hour.  I have heard that childred usually become violent when they are waking up and try to scratch and hit and what not.  Oh JOY!  So mommy clipped her finger nails tonight and we are hoping for a smooth transition.

Tomorrow night is enrichment night at church and I am crossing my fingers I can go.  I REALLY want to go because we are talking about 72 hour kits and I am in need of it.  Am I crazy for thinking this is possible?!  I think maybe if I think positively about that it will happen.  Think positive thoughts for me please.  If you pray, include my baby girl in your prayers tonight and tomorrow.  I am sure all will be well.  I am sure she will be playing and giggling by dinner time......crossing my fingers.
